Xu Beihong Memorial Museum
Xu Beihong (1895-1953), was one of China抯 most famous modern artists. He became known internationally for his paintings of horses and his style has been widely imitated. Originally located at Xu Beihong抯 old home, the museum was moved to its current location at Xinjiekou Bei Dajie after his original building was demolished. The museum displays not only Xu Beihong抯 works but also his collection of oil paintings, sketches and watercolors that include more than 1,200 examples from the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, as well as works from the May Fourth Movement (1919). A replica of Xu抯 studio as it looked shortly before his death is also found in the new museum.
