Mausoleum of Genghis Khan
The Mausoleum of Genghis Khan is situated 15 kilometers away from the southeast of Yikezhaomeng Yijinhuoluo Qi'atengxilian Town of Inner Mongolia, covering an area of more than 55,000 square meters.

"Yijinhuoluo" in Mongolian means emperor's mausoleum. Legends say that Genghis Khan had selected this green grassland as his mausoleum when he was alive.

Genghis Khan, who's name was Tiemuzhen, born in 1162, was the chief of Mongolian people. Before and even after his death, people thought he was an ever-victorious strategist and statesman of great talent and bold vision.

In 1206 he unified Mongolia tribes, founded the first independent power of the whole outer and inner Mongolian, and proclaimed himself first forefather.

The three round arch palaces are the body of the Mausoleum of Genghis Khan. The main hall is 26.6 meters high and the west and east halls are 23,3 meters high. The 5 meters high sitting statue of Genghis Khan is enshrined in the central memorial hall. The yellow poles, red tassels and silver daggers were set up on each side and the pike, which used by Khan before he died, is on the side of his body.

On the walls inside the main hall, drawn with life deeds of Genghis Khan, on the glass ceiling drawn creeping flowers. In front of the main hall entrance, a tablet written with two languages - Chinese and Mongolian "The Mausoleum of Genghis Khan".

The back palace is the place putting coffins, enshrined the coffins of Genghis Khan and his three wives and his two younger brothers. In the east palace, the coffin of his 4th son Luolei and his wife are putting on display.

In the War of Resistance against Japan, the coffin of Genghis Khan were once moved to Gansu Province, later to Qinghai Province and was greeted back to preserve in the original place in 1954. The Mausoleum of Genghis Khan was listed the Chinese emphatic preservation unit of cultural relics in 1982.

On 17th, March in lunar calendar every year, the Mongol from various places will gather here from faraway places, hold a memorial ceremony and pay respects at his tomb like a get-together of Mongol. From this, we can see Genghis Khan is the ethnic hero in Mongol's heart and their esteemed and beloved ancestor as well. The resplendent and magnificent emperor's mausoleum on the vast prairie under the blue sky and white cloud and crowds of Mongol in colorful costumes form a very beautiful picture.
