Long You Grottoes
Longyou is located in western Zhejiang province, the upper reaches of Qiantang river and in the center of Jinqu basin. There are 17 places of interests within its extent, among which various stone wares and earthen wares of the stone age were found, which revealed the message that it is the birthplace of the western Zhejiang culture.

Longyou grotto is located in Fenghuang mountain which is 3 miles away from the town of Longyou, at the intersection of Qiantang river and Lin mountain. It is a great underground architecture formed centuries ago, within the area of 0.38 square km regularly distributed 24 caves of different sizes and scales(some more were discovered later nearby). The sizes of the caves are from 1000 square meters to 3000 square meters. The little south sea 3 miles north of Longyou town is a place of interest in history. On July 9, 1992, 4 local farmers used 4 water pumps and spent 17 days drying up the mysterious 'endless pool'. Longyou grotto suddenly came into being. Longyou grotto caused great interest in the academic circles in the world. A great number of famous experts, professors and foreign scholars from all over the world have made special trips there to observe and study the Longyou grotto, the 9th miracle of the world.

The heights are about 30m. The exploited part of the cave is a vertical one from the top entrance. You can see it extend abruptly in the direction of 45 degrees inclination in each cave, 3-4 huge fish-tail like stone pillars were made scientifically which formed an integral whole with the arc of the cave. It is amazing whether the ancient people had already known clearly about the truth of architecture for their positions and sizes are strictly following the mechanic principles.
