Shizi Yan
Two limestone hills, one tall and the other short, resembling a sleeping lion - this is the main attraction of Shizi Yan. You'll also find cave labyrinths with stalactites and stalagmites of different shapes.
Prehistoric animal and human bones as well as Paleolithic tools were found in this area, which indicates that Shizi Yan was a inhabited by the Homo erectus called Maba ren. There is also a museum with collections of stone axes, arrowheads and pottery found during excavations here.
Location: 18 kilometres south of Shaoguan city. The sight is close to the Nanhua Temple.
How to get there: Take a minibus at the railway station or hire a rickshaw.
